MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Rotary Club of Marquette, Vango's Pizza and Marquette City Commission candidate Sally Davis held an event at Presque Isle Park on Wednesday to raise money for a local park.

Vango's, working out of the Island Store in the park, was offering free food, drinks, and ice cream to attendees.

The hope was for patrons to give a donation to benefit improvements to Hurley Field.

Vango's co-owner and Rotary Club co-president Michele Butler came up with the idea for a fundraiser after noticing all of the leftover ice cream following the seasonal close of the shop.

"Sally [Davis] suggested Hurley Park based on the fact that the equipment is pretty worn and torn and we decided great idea," says Butler. "We've done a couple other parks in the community and one of our missions is to help take care of the youth."

All of the concessions at tonight's event were donated courtesy of Vango's Pizza.
