MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Innovate Marquette SmartZone and the MTEC SmartZone in Houghton are collaborating to host an event geared toward showing job seekers who have left Michigan the opportunities available in the Upper Peninsula.
It's called Return North. It's a professional careers reception.
Kylie Bunting, the marketing manager with Innovate Marquette SmartZone, says she wanted to find a way to entice people who at one point had lived or gone to school in the U.P. to come back. She says she feels many times people leave the U.P. not because they want to, but because they feel like they can't find a career.
Return North hopes to quell that.
Businesses and employers from around the U.P. are encouraged to contact Innovate Marquette SmartZone to be part of this networking event and showcase the vast array of opportunities that are found here.
Return North is Friday, July 5 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m at the Landmark Inn in Marquette. It's free for job seekers to attend. Employers who are interested in being involved will cost $100 to secure a spot.
