Pure Michigan operating without budget
The Vice President for Travel Michigan, the group behind the popular Pure Michigan campaign, was in Marquette Thursday night. David Lorenz was in attendance for the UP200 bib draw at the Holiday Inn in Marquette.
Pure Michigan hasn't started the year off with great news as the group has been caught in the middle of the state budget fight. They find themselves operating with no budget despite support from many legislators and Governor Gretchen Whitmer's administration.
"It's more than just ROI (Return On Investment) and that's important, Pure Michigan reminds us that this state is worth fighting for, they always say perception is reality, well, it is, and before Pure Michigan I think we lost track of who we were, I think we had lost faith in ourselves, Pure Michigan reminded us that this is a pretty special place and we need to keep that going," said Lorenz.
Lorenz also said they've been working with lawmakers and the Governors staff to get some form of budget in the next two to three weeks.
