'Puck Drop Tailgate' held this weekend to kick-off NMU hockey

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - If you're a fan of Northern Michigan University Wildcat Hockey, then this weekend's “Puck Drop Tailgate” is for you.

To kick-off this weekend's home opener against Michigan State University, tailgate parties will be held Friday and Saturday outside of the Berry Events Center.

The family-friendly tailgates will feature beer tents, kid games, and music to help celebrate Wildcat hockey.

"This is not only campus-involved, but hopefully community-related. Getting the two groups together before the game, having that fun outside the rink builds excitement so that when we walk in those doors, we're ready for puck drop,” said NMU Hockey Associate Head Coach, Byron Pool.

Friday's celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday’s party starts at 3:30 p.m.

Pool added that the Wildcats have been working hard so far this season and that they're excited to take on MSU this weekend.
