Officers and volunteers from Gladstone Public Safety responded to a car fire on the 400 block of S 10th Street in Gladstone.

Officials say that when they arrived on the scene, a 2004 GMC Envoy owned by Joanna Delaney of Kipling was found engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished. The vehicle is considered a total loss.

The Gladstone Public Safety Department has yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, but it appeared to be engine or electrical related. The owner reported a strange smell when she parked the vehicle shortly before the fire.

Firefighters also responded to a report of a tree on fire at the 800 block of 29th Street. That incident turned out to be a minor brush fire caused by some discarded ashes from a fire pit.

No injuries were reported from either incident.
