Project Keep Kids Warm kicks off 2019 season this Monday

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - Project Keep Kids Warm will begin collecting donations of gently-used winter clothing items for children on Monday, Sept. 23.

Various drop-off locations will be scattered around Ishpeming and Negaunee to donate gently-used winter clothing Sept. 23 through Oct. 9.

Project Keep Kids Warm Coordinator Dick Derby says this is the tenth year the organization has collected donations to hand out to kids. He says in the past, the group would leave bags on the doorsteps of Ishpeming and Negaunee homes, but this year there will be select sites to drop off donations.

Project Keep Kids Warm is looking for gently-used or new winter jackets, snow pants, hats, gloves, and boots for children as young as infants to 18 years old.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, Project Keep Kids Warm will host the annual free distribution day at the Ishpeming Armory.

Drop-off locations will be open throughout the Ishpeming, Negaunee and surrounding communities until then.
