FLORENCE, Wis. (WLUC) - A presentation on Saturday at the Florence County Library taught kids about train sets.
For 11 years, Donald Lison has set up his Lionel electric train set in the library. He’s owned parts of the display since he was a kid. When he grew up, he turned his hobby into an occupation when he worked on a train crew.
During the presentation, he taught the kids about how the train sets work, and even gave the kids a chance to operate the train themselves.
Lison sees the yearly presentation as a way to pay it forward and introduce young people to a new hobby.
“If you can take a kid and teach them something, that’s a good thing. Give them something to be interested in. If you were interested, if someone brought you along, then you should bring someone else along, that’s just how it should work I think,” said Lison.
At the end of the presentation, Lison and his wife raffled off train sets for the kids to take home and play with.
