Police investigating sexting complaints in Peshtigo schools
The Peshtigo Police Department, in cooperation with the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department and the Marinette County District Attorney, is investigating “sexting” among students in the school district.
Peshtigo Police Chief Richard Badgley stated on Thursday, April 25, he received complaints about sexting on cell phones and other technical devices that includes exchanges of photos.
Chief Badgley noted these photos can be considered child pornography and if convicted, a person could face a potential prison sentence ranging from 3 and a half years to 25 years plus fines and other penalties.
Badgley urges parents to be diligent and check their kid’s phones to see what they have on them.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
