MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Phase one construction on the lighthouse park property in Marquette is well underway.
Phase one of construction should be complete by the end of summer.
The current construction phase includes improving the park entrance off Arch Street, relocating the bike path, and establishing sewer and water infrastructure. This phase also includes blasting rock.
Marquette City Manager, Mike Angeli, says this phase should be finished by the end of the summer.
"This attempt is to get the parking lot fixed up, make it accessible for the public, and then as we are more along, we'll make some other improvements to the buildings that are on-site and maybe open it up to the public in a more general way,” Angeli said.
Angeli hopes to start remodeling some of the buildings that are onsite, like the Captain’s House, next summer.
