MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC)- The Peter White Public Library in Marquette is offering more than just books for rent. The library also boasts a collection of over 200 works of art to check out.

Art can be rented free of charge for up to two months with a library card. Their collection features pieces from nationally recognized and local artists alike. The Peter White says it's the perfect way to try before you buy.

“It's expensive to buy artwork and to frame artwork,” said Samantha Ashby, Adult Services Department Head. “If you are looking for a piece to fill a wall temporarily while you are saving up for a piece of art or figuring out what type of piece you'd like to put on the wall, this is a great option.”

Library cards are free for Marquette residents. Nonresidents can purchase cards starting at 30 dollars for a three month membership.

“If you're living here temporarily or if you're a student, it's a great way to decorate your dorm or apartment for no cost,” said Ashby. “You could also check them out to put in your office if you need some decor.”

The library is Monday thru Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
