Perry Lund becomes Delta County's 3rd Probate Judge

Delta County officially has a new probate judge, Perry Lund.

In an Oath of Office ceremony Thursday afternoon at the Delta County Courthouse, Lund was sworn into the new position by his mentor, Robert Goebel.

Goebel is retiring after 40 years, making Lund the 3rd Probate Judge Delta County has seen.

Lund is a Gladstone native and has been the juvenile referee hearing officer for Delta County for the past 16 years.

Over those years, Lund has conducted over 10,000 hearings.

He says he couldn’t more excited to take on this new role.

"I have large shoes to fill with Judge Goebel who has been on the bench for 40 years," said Lund. "I have a lot of experience from him and I couldn't have asked for a better mentor so I think I am as prepared as I could be to take the bench."

Lund's work as probate judge will begin January 1.
