MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Those who were willing to brave the storm on Sunday had the perfect conditions for skiing and snowboarding at Marquette Mountain.
The mountain was open until 5 p.m. and runs were the best they've been so far in this short season. The heavy wet snow Sunday and Wednesday filled up the mountain nicely. Staff joked it was free refills all day, meaning once you go down the slope, the snow would fill that area right back in.
“This is probably about a month’s worth of snow making that we're just getting just last night and today,” said Marquette Mountain general manager Andrew Farron. “So it's incredible, what a great start to the year, we can't be more excited.”
The mountain will be closed all week until Friday. They'll be starting their normal winter hours in the next couple of weeks.
