UPDATE: Pedestrian seriously injured in Marquette County hit and run crash, possible suspect identified, no arrests made

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: May 22, 1:35 p.m.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is still investigating a car v. pedestrian hit and run that happened around 3:45 p.m. on May 7 in Marquette Township.

The sheriff's office says it received a tip on Tuesday, May 19, that enabled deputies to find the suspect van, abandoned in a wooded area on County Road KB near Brown Deer Road in Powell Township.

The van was later turned over to the Michigan State Police Forensic Lab in Marquette for investigation and processing.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is thanking the public for providing crucial information for this case, and say a suspect has been identified.

The investigation continues and will later be submitted to the Marquette County Prosecutor's Office for review once completed.

UPDATE: May 14, 2:20 p.m.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is still investigating a car v. pedestrian hit and run that happened a week ago.

The sheriff's office says it happened on Marquette County Road 550 near Partridge Bay Trail in Marquette Township at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, May 7. That's about halfway between Phil's 550 Store and the Sugarloaf Mountain parking lot.

Deputies have now said the injured pedestrian has been released from UP Health System-Marquette, after treatment for injuries that included several skull fractures.

The sheriff's office believes the suspect vehicle is a 2005 or 2006 Ford Econoline van, that would now be missing the passenger side mirror and bracket, as those were found at the scene.

Anyone with information that could help investigators should call the Marquette County Sheriff's Office at 906-225-8470. The sheriff's office is also requesting that anyone with video surveillance along County Road 550 contact the office.

Marquette County investigators are looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian and drove away Thursday afternoon.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, it happened on Marquette County Road 550 near Partridge Bay Trail in Marquette Township at 3:45 p.m. That's about halfway between Phil's 550 Store and the Sugarloaf Mountain parking lot.

Investigators say a northbound vehicle hit a 23-year-old Marquette man and then left the scene. The man was taken to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment of serious injuries.

No information about the vehicle has been released.
