Report: Packers, Rodgers agree to contract extension

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WLUC) - Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is now the highest paid player in NFL history, under a new deal announced Wednesday by his former teammate.

The NFL Network's James Jones announced on Twitter that Rodgers and the Packers have agreed to terms on a four-year extension worth $33.5 million in new money, plus incentives per year. Rodgers gets more than $100 million in guarantees, Jones says.

Rodgers, a two-time NFL MVP, still had two years left on his current deal.

The Packers open the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 9 against the Chicago Bears on TV6.
