2 people found dead after house fire in Marquette

UPDATED Story at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday:

TV6 & FOX UP has confirmed inspectors were able to obtain a warrant to search the home in the late afternoon Tuesday. The fire inspector was on scene after that to assess the damage in the daylight. It appears the home is a total loss.

No cause has been identified. The fire scene, as well as the deaths of the two individuals found inside the home, is still under investigation.

According to city of Marquette records on their website, the property is a rental property owned by Michael and Lynne Johnson.

UPDATED Story at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday:

Police, fire and public works crews have all cleared the scene of the deadly house fire on Lincoln Avenue. Marquette police and the state fire marshal are investigating. No names have been released.

This story will be updated with the latest information as it's released by Marquette police.

UPDATED Story at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday:

According to the Marquette Police Department, two people were found dead inside a home at 1026 Lincoln Avenue. A fire was reported there at 11:35 p.m. Monday.

No names have been released. The Marquette Police Department and Michigan State Police Fire Marshal are still investigating the scene.

Lincoln Avenue is still closed between Cleveland Avenue and College Avenue. Barricades are up on Magnetic Street at Norway Avenue as officials are still investigating the scene. This is close to Marquette Senior High School.

The City of Michigan public Works is also at the scene clearing off the ice left from firefighters.

UPHS-Marquette EMS, the City of Marquette Public Works Department and the Marquette Township Fire Department all assisted at the scene.

Crews are at the scene of a fire at a two-story home that started at 11:35 p.m. Monday night on Lincoln Avenue near West Magnetic Street.

Lincoln Avenue is closed between Cleveland Avenue and College Avenue. Barricades are up on Magnetic Street at Norway Avenue as officials are still investigating the scene. This is close to Marquette Senior High School.

The Marquette Fire Department has not released any information on injuries or if anyone was home when the fire started. The home appears to be badly damaged.
