MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Outlanders Restaurant of Marquette is holding their fourth annual Families Helping Families Fundraiser this month.

On Thursday, Outlanders was cooking for a cause with their guest chef, Brenda Washnock. Specials for the day featured Middle Eastern and North African Cuisine, including Shwarma and Gado Gado.

All proceeds from the guest menu go to Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan, a non-profit social service agency.

“We use the funds to get our kids things that we normally couldn't get. In the past, we have provided music lessons for the kids, musical instruments, [and’] art supplies. We have kids that are involved in athletics in the community and they need tennis shoes and things like that,” said Mark Holliday, Teaching Family Homes Interim Director.

The special menu will be available until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Ten percent of all gift card sales this month will also go to Teaching Family Homes.
