Silver Creek Church in Harvey is holding their Operation Winter Wear event. It provides free jackets, boots, snow pants and gloves to community members in need.

The group collects winter gear all year long, and distributes it over the two-day event. Clothes are available for all ages, in sizes ranging from infant to adult. Everyone is eligible to register, which can be done in the lobby of the church.

“We just want to be a blessing to our community, and serve our community, and this is just one way that we are meeting some needs,” said Barbara Markiewicz, Thrift Store Director at Silver Creek Church.

The event is taking place Thursday and Friday at 1 to 6 p.m. at the Silver Creek Church. Donations of new or slightly used winter wear are still being collected for the event.
