Operation Winter Wear distributing to those in need

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - Operation Winter Wear Eain's Closet is in its final phase for the year. Thursday and Friday, November 8 and 9, families are picking up new and like-new winter gear.

Coats, hats, snow pants and more are being given to families in need. Volunteers have been collecting the donations throughout the year. They say it's all part of what Silver Creek Thrift Store is all about.

"It is very rewarding and it's our joy to serve, that's what we're all about, so this is just part of that ministry to serve our community," said Barbara Markiewicz, Director of the Silver Creek Thrift Store. "There's a lot of folks that can't afford winter clothing and outerwear, so we like to do this as a ministry and people are very grateful."

The second day of distribution is Friday, November 9, at the Silver Creek Thrift Store located on Silver Creek Road in Chocolay Township. That runs from 1-6 p.m.
