ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Gerald Aho, 64, of Ishpeming, is charged with controlled substance, possession of meth/ecstasy.
He pleaded not guilty and is set for a preliminary exam on May 7. He is still lodged in the Marquette County Jail.
On Thursday, April 11, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) arrested a 64-year-old Ishpeming man for possession of crystal meth.
Detectives from UPSET, along with officers from Ishpeming Police Department and the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post arrested the suspect outside of his residence, which is located on North Second Street in Ishpeming. Detectives also executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence.
Detectives said as a result of the investigation, detectives seized approximately 1/2 ounce of crystal meth. Street value of the drugs seized is estimated to be over $3,000.
The suspect was lodged at the Marquette County Jail for possession of crystal meth, an additional arrests are expected, UPSET said.
UPSET was assisted by Ishpeming Police Department, MSP Negaunee Post, Homeland Security Investigations and the US Postal Inspector’s Office.
An Ishpeming man is in jail following a drug investigation in the City of Ishpeming.
According to the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, detectives were informed of a 64-year-old in possession of crystal meth.
A search warrant was served for his residence, and police found a half an ounce of crystal meth.
The man was lodged in Marquette County Jail on one count of possession of crystal meth.
UPSET says additional charges are pending for a second suspect.
His name will be released pending an arraignment date.
Assisting UPSET on scene was Michigan State Police at the Negaunee Post, Ishpeming Police Department, and an agent with the United States Postal Inspection Service.
