CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - On Friday, January 11, at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Chippewa County Sheriffs Office was called to Trail # 8, just East of Salt Point Rd, Chippewa County for a snowmobile accident. It was found that an Ohio man had lost control of his snowmobile and left the trail.
The Chippewa Co Sheriff's Office snowmobile patrol was first on scene.
Chippewa Co Sheriff's Office then called out their Accident Investigators to process the scene.
Accident investigators determined that once the snowmobile left the trail and entered the deep Powder like snow, the sled was pulled into the trees.
The driver sustained life threatening injury and was transported to War Memorial Hospital by Bay Mills EMS. He was ultimately transferred to another hospital in lower Michigan.
The latest report was the Ohio man was still alive, but in very serious condition.
The Chippewa Co Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone riding snowmobiles to please slow down and enjoy the ride. Nothing good happens once you loose control and leave the trail.
