Ohio man injured after crashing into railroad tracks in Marquette County

Deputies say 25-year-old Lucas Arledge of Gahanna, Ohio was unable to stop in time and was ejected from the machine.

SANDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - An Ohio man is recovering after a snowmobile crash in Sands Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office reports the incident happened Thursday, Jan. 8 just after 2:30 p.m. on the railroad tracks near Trail 8, about a half mile south of Station Rd.

Deputies say 25-year-old Lucas Arledge of Gahanna, Ohio was riding west on the trail. The railroad tracks lay below grade, and he was unable to stop in time. Arledge went airborne, crashing into the tracks and was ejected from the machine. He fractured his leg as a result.

Arledge was taken to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment.

Deputies say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Deputies on scene were assisted by Sands Township Fire and EMS.
