Energy efficiency day is October 5, 2018; however, students at Northern Michigan University plan to raise awareness throughout the entire month of October.
Every Tuesday, they are encouraging students to “Turn down the lights” by unplugging unnecessary devices.
Additionally, they have “Fix it Fridays” for students to mend clothes and other items. Along with “Spooky up-cycling,” where they will reuse old materials to make Halloween decor.
"I think it's really important to preserve it so that way we are able to keep producing clean foods, and keep our environment clean so that way we can use it, but also the next generation,” said Isabelle Ureel, EcoReps Student Co-Coordinator.
They believe by focusing on this issue for a month rather than just one day, they will see more involvement from students on campus.
