Northern Michigan University 'Rotaract' Club organizes mobile food pantry

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Hundreds of people gathered at the Salvation Army in Marquette Thursday evening for a mobile food pantry. The student organization and rotary affiliate, NMU Rotaract Club, organized the event which included bringing in the 'Feeding America: West Michigan' food truck.

The mobile pantry was made possible through a $5,000 Rotary Noon Club grant, which so far, has funded three mobile pantries in the area.

"It comes with a lot of contact through Feeding West Michigan. That's where we get all of the food. We get a 15,000 lb. food truck which is enough to feed 400 families, so it's really great for the community, just getting everyone out here, said NMU Rotaract Member, Chloe Rinkel.
