SANDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - North Woods Conservancy of Keweenaw County is holding a special raffle this month. The prize? A brand new 2018 Midnight Edition Chevy Silverado LTZ Z-71 4-door 4x4 truck with a retail price of $56,640. The truck, tax and license, and 25% tax paid equal a total prize value of around $78,000.

Tickets are being sold at the Marquette County Fair this weekend in Gwinn. They can also be found at Superior Travel or the Bonfire Steakhouse in Houghton. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold, they can be purchased for $145 each.

Proceeds from the raffle help the North Woods Conservancy purchase and preserve natural land.

“I will drive the truck to you, wherever you are so it's a good gift,” said John Griffith, Volunteer President of the North Woods Conservancy. “One the front end, we're trying to reach out to people who may not care about our mission, but it's a really good raffle. One out of a thousand chance to win a truck. On the back end, the money that we raise is going to a really good cause.”

The raffle drawing will take place on Labor Day, Monday, September 3. You do not have to be present to win the truck. Additional information about the raffle and how you can enter can be found on the raffle website at
