North Star Academy hold first-ever art show

MARQUETTE TWP, Mich. (WLUC) - North Star Academy held their first-ever art show Saturday.

All the student artwork created over the past year was on display, from pre-K all the way up to senior classes.

There was a variety of types of media including water colors, tempera, acrylic, drawings and more. There were also several other art activities all afternoon including an art auction, talent show, musical instrument making and more.

North Star Art Teacher, Lauren Tilma says all funds raised during the event will be used to purchase art and music supplies for the Academy. Tilma also says she and her students are thankful for the support from the community.

"It's just important to support the art and music programs because a lot of times those programs are kind of pushed off to the side. That luckily isn't the case here which I'm really thankful for. But it can be a bit of a stress to get new supplies all those big ticket items that you might not otherwise get,” Tilma concluded.
