NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The Noquemanon Ski Marathon brings in more than 1,000 competitors to Marquette, Ishpeming and Negaunee Township for a nationally recognized cross country skiing event.
This event wouldn't be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who support and contribute to the Noquemanon mission to develop and maintain an interconnected, year-round, non-motorized trail network in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Over half of the five hundred needed volunteers have been secured for this year's race weekend and, according to Race Coordinator Nicole Dewald Swenson, they are still looking for more.
“The Noquemanon Ski Marathon presented by the UP Health Systems, Eagle Mine, and River Valley is set to take off on January 25th, 26th, and 27th. We are looking for volunteers from the community,” said Dewald Swenson.
Volunteer opportunities range widely; The Noquemanon Ski Marathon staff are looking for help with:
• Friday Jr Noque 3-6pm
• Friday Registration 6 -9pm
• Friday Bag Pickup - 5-9pm
