MARQUETTE, Mich, (WLUC) - There is still no specific location set for this year’s Fourth of July firework show.
With only a few months left until Independence Day, the Marquette Fourth of July Celebration Committee held it's monthly meeting Tuesday to discuss the Marquette Food Festival, parade, and fireworks show.
It has been determined that the fireworks display will be shot off from Lower Harbor, but it is unknown as to where.
"We currently are unable to secure a barge, so that is something we are exploring other options for how we can shoot the show. We are looking at possibly moving it back to the break wall, like it has been in the past, or renting a barge. If we rent a barge we are looking at a $12,000 additional cost,” said Victoria Leonhardt, Chair of Marquette Fourth of July Celebration Committee.
Their event budget is about $30,000.
To combat the possible additional cause, the committee plans on hosting a “May the Fourth be with you” photo fundraiser. People will be able to get four photos taken with Star Wars characters for an undetermined cost.
