Winter Storm Warnings continue in central UP

UPDATE at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday:

Lakeshore Boulevard in Marquette is closed indefinitely between Hawley Street and Fair Ave. because of high wave activity, according to the City of Marquette.

Michigan State Police say no major crashes or incidents have been reported across the central U.P.

With most schools closed in Marquette and Alger counties Tuesday, all roads remain open as of 7:30 a.m. eastern time.

Blowing snow and low visibility are major concerns throughout the day, along with low wind chills. According to Michigan State Police Negaunee Regional Dispatch, no major crashes have been reported.

A dominant band of heavy snow developed late Monday night off Lake Superior into eastern Marquette County southeastward all the way into central Delta County.

Marquette reported 6 inches of snow Tuesday morning.
