NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - A fire broke out in an old mining building in Negaunee Tuesday evening.
Crews responded to an abandoned mining building just off the iron ore heritage trail just after 7:30 p.m.
According to firefighters on scene, the wooden roof of the building was on fire and smoking. Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly with help from nearby departments.
No one was in the building during the fire and no injuries were reported.
It is unknown what the cause of the fire is, or what the extent of damage is on the building.
Negaunee City and Township Fire were on hand as well as Ishpeming Township crews.
