K.I. SAWYER, Mich. (WLUC) - K.I. Sawyer in Gwinn could be the next site for a new disc golf course. Marquette County Officials have approved a local club, called Club 906, to move forward with installing and maintaining a course near Little Trout Lake Park.
Now the group will begin to fundraise for the project, that includes local businesses and groups to help. Representatives from the club say it'll be a great use of the site, which as of now, is vacant.
"We're trying to make the area nice, the people that do live here, we try to take pride in the area," said Club 906 President Jamie Vincent. "We've got all this wide open area to work and put a state-of-the-art disc golf course so we're just trying to make the base nice, have something good to say about K.I. Sawyer."
The biggest expense early on will be the disc golf baskets. If everything goes well, they hope to have the course going by the end of October.
