NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - The weather might have been cold, dreary and wet but people were all smiles Wednesday afternoon in Negaunee. Students, faculty and staff from Negaunee Public Schools were on hand distributing more than 15,000 pounds of food to those in need.
It was all thanks to the Feeding America West Michigan Mobile Pantry. Students were helping those in need fill containers with everything from cabbage and potatoes to apples and bananas.
"It feels great just to give back to the community you get to come out and see who's in need and it just feels great," said Wesley Johnson Negaunee HS Jr. "It makes you appreciate when you're at home and you get to have that meal at home you just appreciate it a lot more and it's nice just to give back and see who's in need."
Feeding America West Michigan has been very active lately. They recently held a distribution in the Gwinn area. There was also one in Baraga Wednesday and one coming to the Norway area soon.
