Negaunee man seriously injured in Sagola Township motorcycle crash

SAGOLA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - A Negaunee man is recovering after a crashing a motorcycle in Sagola Township.

The Michigan State Police say that troopers from the Iron Mountain Post responded to a motorcycle crash on Thursday, August 29, at approximately 5:00 p.m. The crash happened on Leeman Road near Lerza Road in Sagola Township.

Investigation found that a Negaunee man was riding a motorcycle, and lost control upon entering a sharp curve.The motorcycle struck the guard rail and slid along the edge of the rail before coming to a stop.

The driver was transported by Star Ambulance to Dickinson Memorial Hospital, and was later airlifted to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment.

The man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by Star Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance and Sagola Township Fire Department.
