NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Negaunee Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3165 has a busy Veterans Day planned. They will be traveling around the community to participate in Veterans Day ceremonies.
The post will be attending two school presentations in Negaunee, as well as hosting their own ceremony at the Veterans monument outside of Negaunee’s City Hall.
The post has been doing the ceremony since 1934, and they urge the public to come celebrate service members with them on Monday.
Thomas Stanaway, a trustee of Post 3165, said these ceremonies are important because they keep the memory of the fallen alive.
"It being cold, we keep it short. The public we urge to attend. Somebody that we're going to read [off their name] is one of your relatives and it would be nice that you participate on Veterans Day at City Hall,” he said.
The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. and will include a color guard and readings of the names of local service members who have passed away. They will be assisted by the American Legion Greenwood Post as well.
