Nebraska man set to be sentenced for assault charges

MENOMINEE COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - A Nebraska man accused of ramming other vehicles on M-35 in Menominee County avoided jury trial by entering a plea in court.

23-year-old Joshua Bougie was set for a jury trial for this coming Monday, November 26. Instead, he entered a guilty to two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. Three counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm were nullified, which means there was an unwillingness to prosecute.

Bougie also pleaded no contest to a separate charge of driving under the influence.

Bougie was arrested after ramming into other vehicles and causing a series of crashes starting in Menominee Township, through Ingallston Township, and ending in Cedarville Township. Victims were taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba for treatment.

A sentencing date is scheduled for December 3.
