MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority brought in under one million dollars this past year.

After reviewing the end of year budget at the monthly meeting Thursday, the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority found a 25% capture of taxes through the tax increment revenue. Bringing in a total of $889,931 from brownfield projects.

“As we’re tasked, we’re bringing properties that were blighted, not developed and bringing them on to the tax rolls," said Kellie Holmstrom, Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Chairperson. "We felt good about seeing those numbers.”

Other topics of discussion included further testing of Cliffs-Dow before development, bonds for the East Baraga Avenue expansion and Founders Landing pier, and housing issues.
