MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - January is “National Hobby Month,” inspiring people to find a new hobby or try out different ones.
City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center Director, Tiina Harris, says there are plenty of opportunities around the area to try out different hobbies, such as painting and wood working.
Workshops are often held at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, and Harris says the benefits of relaxing with a hobby are endless.
"Anyone knows if they've ever written a letter or a poem, or done something creative, how good it makes them feel. It's because you're feeding yourself and you have to nourish that part of your creative self. It's good for you, it's good for your health, it relaxes you,” Harris said.
Next week kicks off the center’s “100 Day Project,” where people are encouraged to do or try something creative for 100 consecutive days. During this time, various workshops will be held at the center.
