MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Northern Michigan University is working to be recognized as a voter friendly school. ASNMU, the student government, is working with groups like campus vote project and the League of Women Voters.
Tuesday afternoon they held a register to vote event where they provided information about absentee ballots, how to register online and any other voting related questions students had.
"It's your duty as an American citizen to be civically engaged, politics effects a lot of our lives, locally, federally, it also effects public welfare, economics, if you have opinions on those things, the way to express them is through the polls," said ASNMU Chair of the Assembly, Emma Drever.
Tuesday's voter registration event at NMU went from 4-7 p.m. The Michigan primary is coming up on March 10.
