NMU students prepare for Snowfest

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The 2nd annual Snowfest event will return to Northern Michigan University to kick off the winter semester.

It's an opportunity for students to try winter equipment such as fat-tire bikes, snowshoes and cross country skis. They also can learn about other student organizations on campus.

Student Trail Manager Ryan Watling says this experience gives students the chance to enjoy nature while trying something different.

"It's important because a lot of students come to Northern and don't really know how to enjoy all of the nature we have, and so this is an opportunity to take advantage of the trail paths that they have, to try all of this equipment for free on campus and explore their area here,” said Watling.

Snowfest is Wednesday, January 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students are welcome to come anytime and enjoy hot chocolate after the adventure.
