MARQUETTE, Mi. TV6 has learned from Mining Journal Sportswriter Ryan Stieg that NMU Hockey Head Coach Grant Potunly has signed an eight-year deal with the Wildcats that reportedly will be worth $285,000 per season.
Potluny was the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Coach of the Year, and he is a Spencer Penrose Finalist for Division One Hockey Coach of the Year. The Wildcats went 19-7-2-2 in WCHA play and 25-13-3 overall. NMU finished second in the WCHA regular season standings behind Minnesota State. The Wildcats reached the WCHA Tournament Championship game before falling 2-0 to Michigan Tech.
The eight-year contract will run through 2026.
