NMU Food Pantry nearing one year anniversary
The Northern Michigan University Food Pantry is coming up on its first full year of operation. With the early school year underway, the pantry is trying to spread the word and partner with other groups for can drives.
Recently they received more than 300 donations during their tackling hunger food drive with the NMU Football Team. As the pantry continues to grow they hope to continue to be seen as welcoming.
"All of the people who come in, they're our shoppers and we hang out and we're very personable which is important I think and we've received a lot of feedback that the pantry is very welcoming and homey and that's important, we like to give that impression," said Student Volunteer Coordinator Jessica Podlesak.
The NMU Food Pantry is open every Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. They have several can drives coming up. Don't forget our TV6 Can-a-thon next month, it's your chance to help feed a hungry neighbor.
