NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Mr. Upper Peninsula pageant returns to the historic Vista Theater in Negaunee on Saturday, July 13 for its fifth year.
Current Mr. U.P. Michael Darlington-West says the past year has been enjoyable. He says he has had a lot of volunteering opportunities and has been in a number of parades as Mr. U.P.
Pageant director Eliisa Gladwell says the competition is meant to be fun and allows the contestants to show off what being a Yooper means to them.
During the competition, the contestants will perform in a Yooper-wear portion, showcase their talent, go through an interview segment, and answer one final on-stage question in true pageant style.
Mr. U.P. features men of all ages over 18.
Mr. Upper Peninsula will be at the Vista Theater on Saturday, July 13 starting at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15.
