This weekend, Morrison’s Gift Shop in Ishpeming is celebrating 45 years of business. The store was bought in 1972 by Susan Dix and her husband.

Years later, they were able to get their sons involved in taking care of the family business.

The store sells Precious Moments, jewelry, lotions, and Hallmark cards, among other things.

Although much has changed in Ishpeming over the years, Morrison’s family atmosphere has helped make the store a legend.

“I think a personal touch in a small business makes you feel more comfortable in owning it. Yes, it's a little tough. Competition is crazy, but we're still here,” Store owner Susan Dix said. “Sometimes I think it's a miracle.”

In honor of their anniversary, Morrison’s is having sales of 50 percent off select items through this weekend.
