MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - She's worked for the Marquette Downtown Development Authority for more than 20 years. Thursday afternoon, the DDA Executive Director, Mona Lang, enjoyed her retirement party.

Friends, co-workers and other partners Lang has worked with over the years filled up Casa Calabria in Marquette to wish her well. During her time Lang has overseen nearly $12 million in public improvement projects, secured over $5 million in grant funds, and seen downtown property values more than double. Lang said she has plenty to be thankful for and proud of.

"The community, the city, the changes that we've seen over the last 21 years since I've been here, you could never do this job without the support that I've had and I think what really stands out is how proud the residents are of downtown," said Lang.

Lang also said her plans for the future involve having no plans. She said she'd like to just enjoy the downtown and spend time with friends and family.
