Missing man found and hospitalized

ONTONAGON COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) An Upper Peninsula senior has been found in Ontonagon County after being reported missing.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff's Department was alerted to the missing 78 year-old man from Merriweather Wednesday morning at 9:14 a.m. A K9 unit found the man at 1:18 that afternoon in a swampy area near his home. He was alive but in poor health. The man was transported to Aspirus Grand View, and later transferred to a hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin. The man's name is currently being withheld. His current condition is also not being released at this time.

Assisting in the search were members of the Ontonagon County Sheriff's Department, US Forest Service, Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Officers, Porcupine Mountains DNR, Michigan DNR, Michigan State Police K9 units from Gladstone and Negaunee Posts, Victim Services Unit, 911 Emergency Management Services Coordinator and Sonco Ambulance Personnel.
