ROCK, Mich. (WLUC) - Mid Peninsula School is excited to announce the formation of the newly established Early/Middle College.
Michigan Department of Education recently approved the new program, and was developed in conjunction with Bay de Noc Community College. The schools primarily focus on first generation college students, but is open to all students beginning in 10th grade. Furthermore, graduating seniors will attend their "Fifth Year" of high school while attending classes on the Bay campus, essentially considered full-time Bay College students. With the district covering the financial aspects of the program, students and families will benefit both educationally and financially.
Additionally, thanks to a one-time exemption from the Michigan Department of Education, current 11th and 12th graders at Mid Peninsula School are eligible. Students who were also previously impacted by the closure of Gladstone and Rapid River Early/Middle College are also eligible to attend.
Mid Peninsula Early/Middle College is set to start in late summer of 2018. Current seniors must register before graduation weekend, while juniors can sign up before the beginning of the 2018-19 school year.
For more information, you can attend an informational meeting at the Mid Peninsula Schools on May 14 at 6 p.m.
