HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - An event in Houghton on Saturday gave people an opportunity to purchase some local art.
Michigan Tech held their annual “Home for the Holiday’s” Gift Mart. Crafters were set up in the lobby, and on the stage of the Rozsa Center to sell their work.
Michigan Tech has held the event for the past twenty years. They believe it’s a great event to bring the university and the community together.
“For us it’s about tying the community into the university. It’s bringing the people on campus and letting them see what we can offer and what we can do, and that’s great for the community to come out and see something nice in this beautiful lobby we have here at the Rozsa Center,” said George Hommowun, Production Manager, Rozsa Center.
The event started twenty two years ago when a group of ladies wanted a space to sell Christmas wreaths. Today, the event had thirty three different vendors selling a variety of products.
