HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Students at Michigan Tech celebrated a major milestone in their life on Saturday.
"It's been a blast. It's a little bittersweet right now, I don't think it's set in... I've loved every moment of it no matter how difficult it's been,” said Sound and Design Major, Sarah Calvert.
"Michigan Tech has been a really special. It's unique. I don't think there's a place like this anywhere else so I'm really happy I made the decision of coming here,” said Student Commencement Speaker and Mechanical Engineering Major, Victoria Quinde.
Born and raised in Ecuador, Quinde says she didn't find the university, but the university found her.
"I applied for a tennis scholarship, and I got emails from all over the state, but after talking with Michigan Tech staff I just feel in love with the place,” she explained.
This is why she says she couldn’t imagine herself attending any other university in the world.
"I'm just really glad that I made that decision and I'm here today."
In addition to having the opportunity to speak in front of her class and family as this year's student commencement speaker.
"Everyone has made me feel at home here at Michigan Tech, and I just want to tell them thank you,” explained Quinde.
Both graduates say they're excited to see what the future holds, and can't wait to start the next chapter of their life.
