Michigan Tech celebrates 2018 Spring Commencement

HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Graduation celebrations are in order in Houghton Saturday.

Nearly 1,000 students graduated from Michigan Tech Saturday afternoon, including 708 undergraduates, 229 grad students and 49 PhD students.

This year's student speaker was Jaylyn Williams-Boone, a Huskies football player receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in finance.

Senator Gary Peters is this year's commencement speaker, currently serving his first term in the U.S. Senate. Following his speech, Sen. Peters received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree from the university.
