NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - The deadline to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is Sunday, March 1.

Michigan College Application Programs and Personnel President Kailee Laplander explains how FAFSA can be helpful for families preparing for college.

President of Michigan College Application Programs and Personnel, and TRiO Pre-College Programs Academic Advisor, Kailee Laplander says that deadline is crucial for getting state aid for college, but it's not a hard deadline for federal aid.

Laplander says getting federal loans through FAFSA can vary family by family, but it could be the difference of applying for multiple personal loans and having your college education paid for.
