MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A group of Marquette runners and walkers didn't let our less than spring conditions stop them from leading the way.

It was part of the "Lead The Way" 5-k race sponsored by the Superior Child Advocacy Center.

The race took place at Mattson park.

All proceeds from sign up and donations will help to renovate their new location in Marquette.

Organizers say its just another example of community members showing up to help out.

"I am really proud to be in a community like this, Marquette proves over and over again that we really care about our children and they come out and they show up and they prove it," said Organizer Hannah Syrjala.

Over 50 racers participated in today's event.
Everyone got a medal and a T-shirt after their run.
